Creative Vibe Coding

Written by Vincent Bruijn

Vibe coding… essentially a buzzword, but to be honest, I’ve been doing it since 2003. I thrive on prototyping, quickly translating ideas into visual end results with code. Like painters who paint en plein air: fast brushstrokes, working through mistakes (happy little accidents) - I’ve always felt like a digital impressionist.

That vibe, I know it, I feel it. What’s more fun than instructing a computer to do something and seeing a surprising result in minutes! During busy times of work, family, and commuting, the fun had ended: the time available for “vibe-driven development” diminished. I lost the enjoyment through lack of time… and then AI code assistants showed up! Why hadn’t I realized that this was the perfect time to code by vibe? Open your laptop lid, start an editor, launch Claude Code and get going!

The API tokens are worth every cent as they’ve brought me back to that vibe: I have an idea, I spend time on a proper prompt, and off we go! The great thing about ideas is that they lead to new ideas! It’s as playful as doodling or sketching — which reminds me of the Processing programming language for creatives that actually called each program a “sketch” explicitly, back in 2009.

I’m back in the game. Let’s go vibe coding!! Below is a selection of recent creations!
